Tetrachord was a 3 week multidisciplinary experimental project with musician Ahmad Barakat and architect Hiba Shahzada that took place at the Lab at darat al funun art gallery in Amman in May 2016.
this live project challenged the notion that performance is a closed event independent of everyday life. By making the creative process transparent the public was invited to experience the conception of ideas in real time. In this way the project sought to demystify the creative act, exposing its banality and challenging the idea that art emerges as a kind of divine conception. Instead the everyday is transformed into art.
by opening the space to the public the street became an active participant in the creative process inspiring the pedestrian movement language and the spatial configuration of the installation. the body was treated as a tool to measure the surrounding environment which in turn influenced the heights of the reclaimed streel 'boxes'.
